On Thursday, October 18, 2012, New England Friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the opening reception of the Bosnian Born Art Exhibition at the AIC Center on 38 Newbury Street in Boston. Bosnian Born is an art exhibit celebrating the creativity, perseverance and survival of human spirit through art, film, photography, design and fashion. It featured more than 25 acclaimed artists born in Bosnia, but who now live across the Balkans, Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Their work reflects their Bosnian heritage, reinterpreted in relation to their globalized experiences during the war, their new host countries, and Bosnia's changing context. What they hold in common is not foremost ethnicity or religion, but perseverance of the human spirit. This exhibit featured artistic expressions as vivid examples of how the medium of art encourages new fusions and a fluid sharing across geographic and ethnic boundaries. The Bosnian Born Art Exhibition is a clear proof of the resilience and strength of Bosnian-Herzegovinian people. This traveling art exhibit started in Laguna Beach California (Green Cube Gallery) and its idea came from Ms. Sejla Holland (owner of the Green Cube Gallery).New England Friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina would like to thank the Bosnian Born Boston Team and all the volunteers for the incredible amount of work invested into this project. New England Friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with Bosana Foundation and Green Cube Gallery, was a proud organizer and host of this first ever of its kind exhibit in the Boston area! This project provided scholarships to orphaned and impoverished children through the Bosana Foundation.

On November 8th, NEFBiH Bosnian Born Boston Committee hosted a community event to showcase the exhibit. Special guest of the evening was Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to United States –Ms. Jadranka Negodic. Ms. Azra Cosic, parent of one of the students of NEFBiH Bosnian Language School spoke about the success of the school through her personal observations. Meet One of the Artists: Harun M.
On December 13, 2012 NEFBiH hosted its third event as part of showcasing the groundbreaking exhibit-Bosnian Born Art Exhibition: Meet One of the Artists: Harun Mehmedinovic and Honoring Friends of Bosnia. Guests had an opportunity to hear about four extraordinary individuals (Mr. Andras Reidlemayer, Mr. Glenn Ruga, Dr. Mirjana Rabadzija and Mr. Thomas Butler), who made a significant contribution to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its people. The honorees received special award plaques made in Sarajevo. Visitors listened one of Bosnia’s most talented young artist Harun Mehmedinovic, speak about his work and journey that led him to his career.
