On March 11, 2016, NEFBiH hosted a fundraiser to benefit EDUS – “Education for All”, a non profit, non-governmental organization, founded in 2010 in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The organization’s objective is to help every child achieve its utmost potential with and without difficulties in development. Since its founding, the organization has taken a multidisciplinary, scientifically proven approach in the teaching of children with special needs. A lot of these children generally have very little or no opportunities at all to receive any education. Up to this date, a total of 250 children have used the opportunities that EDUS is offering. EDUS offers a key service for early intervention and it’s the first organization in the country to offer assistance to children with autism.
Among the founders of the organization is Dr. Pistoljevic from Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City, who returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina to work with these kids. Other members of the team are experts and parents who invest and believe in best practices, proven with consistent and measurable progress of each child. The evening was geared towards children, featuring live music, games, face painting, and refreshments.
